I'm talking about consumer grade stuff, that is a normal price for their size, unlike the raptors that are what $90 for 36gb?

From what I heard WD made a comeback with their latest drive and it is taking all the awards now. Cant remember the model number but there were some reviews flying around recently.

Depends on what you want out of the hard drive. (Quiet operation, STR, seek times, etc.)

I personally think

Samsung Spinpoint SP120
Seagate 7200.9

I have had and seen too many Maxtors and WDs fail too soon to reccomend them anymore. Not much experience with Hitachis and Quantum.

The Samsung Spinpoints are great HDs. They are very well priced are faster than many of the other brands. Mine is also totally silent in my P180.
