Someone else did a thread like this for the 2405fpw and since I'm interested in doing the same thing but have a 2005fpw I guess I'll make my own post.

I'd like to get a Dell 4:3 monitor to have right next to my new 2005fpw. I'm not sure if a 17" or 19" is the better match. They both are 1024 pix vertically (2005 is 1080, close enough) so if anyone has any suggestions or can maybe measure how tall just the monitor is on the dell 17" or 19"

thanks

The 17" and 19" are 5x4. The only other option on 3x4 would be a 15" or 20.1" . I personally use the Dell 2001FP. It's slightly shorter in screen height than the Dell 24".
I think Dell is in the proccess of replacing it with the 2007FP, which has a completely diff cosmetic look.

woops. Didn't realize that. I guess I don't care if its 4:3 or 5:4. Mainly I'm curious which non-widescreen would match up best height wise right next to it. (and also cosmetically)

17" LCD's are almost exactly the same pixel size as the 2005fpw. I ran a Samsung 710T next to my 2005fpw for a year, and it was a perfect match (only thing better would have been a second 2005fpw, but that costs $$$).

Don't get a 19" and expect them to match up -- pixels on the 19" are way larger, it's a couple inches taller, and they will look strange next to one another (Laurel and Hardy - one long and skinny, one big and square).

If you get one with an adjustable stand, you can line them up perfectly; otherwise Dell's regular 17" series should be tall enough for the lowest setting on the 2005fpw to about match up.
