Well I am getting a new monitor for my birthday but I got to decide which one so what is the best 19" monitor I can buy. Preferably non trinitron cos I hate the black lines. So are there any suggestions?

From what I know Samsung has came up with its own CRT technology called DynaFlat. I have seen couple of these monitors "in action" and, at 1024x768 they do look good + they are inexpensive....
Second, good CRT technology is from Mitsubishi, look for a monitor which uses their Diamontron CRT technology... I do have a 17 inch Apple Studio Display, hooked up to my PC and this bad boy can do 1600x1200 at 75Hz without any problem and there is no annoing lines; it uses a Diamondtron CRT...
Good luck

;) Well IMHO for price and quality the Iiyama monitors sporting the M2 Tube are the best. These tubes are not only give fantastic results but also offer a SuperBright mode which makes TV, DVD and movies look much better and also offers games a perf-free AA effect too. They are pricey, eg. the 17" is priced among 'standard' 19" monitors ($200ish) but if I had the cash (which I don't) this is what I'd go for. VM Pro 413 and VM Pro 1413 are the 17" versions while VM Pro 454 is the 19" offering.

Iiyama Main Site
Iiyama UK (best to browse by selecting 'products' then 'CRT')

EDIT: I have also noted a couple of links provided by klah, not that I trust PCworld's findings myself but others might;

PCworld 19" top 10
PCworld 17" top 10

WOW, but I think Iiyama is way too expensive for my taste. I think I will go with Samsung

Samsung's, particularly the "P" series monitors, have truly excellent signal handling inside, which makes all the difference in the finer details, like text, icon labels and other tiny stuff. They also manage to be fairly constant in individual unit quality, which can't be said of too many CRT makers. (This you must really keep an eye on - if the demo unit on the shelf looks good, that doesn't necessarily mean the boxed one YOU get is as good.)

regards, Peter

If your monitor is a Diamontron, you have the lines, I guarentee it. All Mitsubishi CRT's are aperture grill just like the Sony Trinitron.

this looks like an excellent choice -it uses DynaFlat tech from Samsung...
I dont know about Hyundai as a manufacturer... but for the price you cant really beat it, it looks sweet
see the other picture, hmm I want it, I will probably get it within few weeks myself
Edit: IT IS a 19 inch monitor!!!
Last edit: It looks kinnda like a darker Apple Studio Display
Edit: My girlfried has just approved the way it looks.....Good sign
