That's a bummer. And you've got the heatsink on the right way? I imagine you've been over that already, but some people don't realize the heatsink AND the clip are both asymmetrical
I did have an 8RDA+ of my own, which died a mysterious death one day
so I know all the frustrations you're referring to... been there, done that
I'm not saying EPoX isn't good, but mine wasn't!
Based on peoples' remarks, the Abit board seems to be a winner. I have the Asus now, and it's treating me fine too (no overclocking, it's a hard-working office workstation).

You must be referring to the step in the CPU heatsink? Yes, I have the step placed correctly and in the case of my SK-7 the clip is preinstalled so it cannot be positioned backwards.
Yeah the Epox was wonderful unl it just went "POOF." By the way you (mechBgon) were one of the reasons I initially decided on the 8RDA+. Fortunately for me I purchased it at NewEgg and I talked with a great Rep today who is willing to help me out.
But Back to the topic....Clock is ticking!!!

For $114.95 shipped 2nd day from Googlegear the NF7-S is my top pick :beer:Originally posted by: Stephan28
I have to replace my DOA 8RDA+ with another board and I am looking at the NF7-S. What does everyone recommend and WHY?
I'm looking for stability and O/C'ing potential.
I need to order it quickly so please respond as soon as possible! Thanks
....but I decided to take a chance and go with my gut feelings as well. I hope I fare well.Asus is headquartered in hell and run by the devil.

Well folks, it's a done deal. I ordered the Abit NF7-S. As I was deliberating I realized that the one computer that has not given me any problems in several years is also based on an ABIT mainboard (KT-7 RAID.) So... that in combination with the recommendations sealed the deal.
I must admit I was tempted to just stick with another 8RDA+ because the transition would have been much easier. I also almost went with the Asus A7N8X because so many people are using this board in sheer numbers (all the negative comments about their tech support swayed me away....but I decided to take a chance and go with my gut feelings as well. I hope I fare well.Asus is headquartered in hell and run by the devil.
Thanks again & I'll be sure to let you know how the project proceeds....besides I'm sure I'm going to need some advice from all of you professionals again!
Thanks Again!
