Best NForce 2 value

I'm trying my best to keep this old P3 500 mhz useable for as long as possible, but its a losing battle. I'm planning an upgrade for what will become (after I go to college) my parents computer.

Current specs
-----> Tyan Trinity 400 (Apollo 133a chipset)
----->P3 500
----->128mb PC100
----->TNT2 Ultra
Sound Blaster Live X-gamer
13.6gb HD (will add one)

"----->" = Looking to replace

My question is what is the cheapest, best NForce 2 board to get. I'm looking for one with Serial ATA, USB 2, Firewire, and Dual Channal support (though I think most of that comes standard). I'm planning on putting in a XP 1700 (~$50), though probably not overclocking it. I'm not terribly concerned about "fastest proformance". I am conserned about the price. I'd like to keep it as close to $300 as possible.

Sounds like a you're looking for a full featured board. Two come to mind with SATA: ABIT NF7-S and Asus A7N8X Deluxe. I don't believe the 8RDA+ has SATA. Also, look for any good deals on a GF4 TI4200 and a pair of 256MB PC3200 memory sticks. Peace.

MSI K7N2G-ILSR is a good economical board, especially if you're not planning on OC'ing much. The onboard graphics is quite usable (IMHO), especially if you're running dual channel PC2700. Might not be great with the latest games, but it will sure be light years ahead of your TNT2. With onboard everything, basically all you'll need is memory and a CPU. Oh, you'll also almost certainly need to upgrade your P/S as well.

I guess that does kinda sound full featured doesn't it. 😀
