Best Nforce 2 ultra 400 Motherboard???

We could debate a decade on which nforce 2 board is the best. The truth is, is that they are all very good. Really..... no one seemed to be dissatisfied with one yet (unless if one was jacked for some reason). They are simply great boards, pick whichever suits your price and delivers the features you want.

OK, new prob with Gig 7n400 pro. I set my fsb to 210 and when it boots it shows 205. What gives??? Also if I set my multi to 10.5 It will not boot. I never had that prob with my old asus..

Broken, Im not sure what the reg mult on the 3000+ is, but they have a mult lock. If you change the mult on them, it wont boot. Thats most likely what your prob is, unless you already unlocked it.

oh, so much for that idea. On my other AMD chip, thats what happened. Ill have to try changing the mult on mine.

I am starting to think it is this stupid board...... Maybe I can return it and get the abit or something.

I can definitely vouch for the Abit. I have yet to have a single problem. In fact, I dont even have a complaint about it. The SATA RAID works great, too, if you were actually gonna use it. If you end up getting a new MB, googlegear.com usually has good prices, and they have free 2nd day on basically everything.

Well, after playing with the settings in the bios I finally got 11x210 for 2310GHZ!!!!!!

PCMark 2002:
CPU: 7156
Memory: 6451
HDD: 928 ( I think SATA is what is wrong)

I think my previous attemps failed due to my memory timings. I left everything at auto and set the fsb at 210 and tada!

P.S. I am at stock voltages!!!!!!!!!!!

Ouch, just found out that the DFI one uses the c-media sound and not Nvidias Realtek with Soundstorm and that if you use the ONE sata port it dissables the Primary IDE when in use!!!!!!!!! What were they thinking!!!!!!!!!!!! That could have been one cool board.

I own the DFI KT400A LanParty, and without a doubt, it is the best KT motherboard yet.

I'll have the NForce2 LanParty monday, and I am sure it will be everything that almost every review site says it is: the best Nforce2 board.

Here is a question that I just answered in another forum about the SoundStorm & DFI LanParty NF2:

SoundStorm Qualification
Specifications
The NVIDIA SoundStorm? audio product requires a specific hardware
configuration to be useful. OEM products can carry the SoundStorm brand if they
meet the following criteria with no exceptions:

1. nForce2 Platform Processor-based motherboard that includes the MCP-T with
Dolby Digital

2. Discrete (non-shared) front left and right analog outputs

3. Discrete (non-shared) rear left and right analog outputs

4. Discrete (non-shared) center and subwoofer analog outputs

5. Discrete (non-shared) SPDIF digital output (Coax recommended, Optical is optional)

6. Discrete (non-shared) line in analog inputs

7. Discrete (non-shared) microphone analog input

8. Minimum 85db signal-to-noise ratio on all analog outputs

9. Minimum 80db signal-to-noise ratio on all analog inputs

10. Executed a Dolby Digital licensing agreement

11. Dolby Digital certification approval from Dolby and NVIDIA

This list is comprised of feedback from end users and OEMs.
Products that do meet these conditions qualify for the SoundStorm brand and are
also eligible for the Dolby Digital brand logo. Note, however, that products cannot
get the Dolby certification without participating in the SoundStorm program .

This means that the APU isn't a soundstorm chip (or limited to a specific brand/make of chip). Its whatever apu the motherboard has, but it MUST meet the requirements above (this is from the nVidia PDF sent to motherboard manufacturers).

One of the techs also forwarded this information to me (to prepare me for when I install it lol):
You can't use the Microphone and Aux In at the same time. But an extra 4 channel audio cable will take care of this issue.

The major drawback that most users have claimed to have kept them from a DFI LanParty is the lack of mounting holes around the ziff socket. My KT LP has them, and the Intel Pro875 has them, but not the NForce2. DFI hopes to resolve this with the next revision. I figure they probably didn't realize the importance to enthusiasts who want to overclock, since the Nforce2 is the top dog (at least on the AMD side).

It is true that using the single-channel SATA channel will disable the Primary IDE. But with 2 extra IDE channels (RAID ports), this shouldn't be a large issue, though some users do have a large number of hard drives in their system.

If you have any other questions on the DFI series of motherboards, I'd be more than happy to answer them!

Yeah, I was looking at that DFI too but I would need to buy another SATA card because I have 3 optical drives, I need both ide's so it would end up costing me about $190

Sorry guys that post earlier should of read 2503 NOT 2803....regardless it's great performance out of a chip I paid $120.00 Canadian for, Maybe it's the cooler weather north of the border that keeps the chips cooler. 😉

I recently took my Audigy MP3+ out and gave the Soundstorm a shot...I must say with my 3Piece speaker setup I have I prefer the NVidia to the Audigy, the only problem is I hear alot of noise when the computer is not playing any type of audio. I have heard mouse clicks....HD activity that corresponds to RAID/HD LED lights...and even when I elevate the fan speed on the V11+ it seems the noise changes.....there is some kinda ground problem or something...I have heard of this happening on a PCI soundcard but not onboard.

Any ideas....If I can resolve the noise issue it means I can get rid of the Audigy and perhaps get a new toy : )

Hello all, Nice place you have here, wanted to add my comments, I have the Gigabyte 7N400 Pro, for me its the best board out there, rock solid stability, good temps, no problems at all
