Best new single player pc game?

I need a new single player game for when i go back to school and lose my fast internet. Any rpgs or rts's?

if you're into fps check out chaser. not all good but it has it's good moments (and you'll be in it for quite some time)

EDIT don't know what a "fpw" is, so i changed it to "fps"

Well, DE isn't new but is sure is long and good . . . Isn't DE II due this Fall? Along with Half-Life II. Deus Ex II might be exactly what you are looking for . . . especially with a decent system.

Right now I am in the bargain bin . . . after medium disappintment with Unreal II . . . So far, less than $10 each has got me Dragon's Lair 3D (ONLY for the nostalgia - it isn't really that bad), Red Faction and AvPII . . . and I am STILL putting off that upgrade so these "old" titles look pretty good with 1.5Ghz and a Radeon 8500.

edit . . . so my suggestion is to hunt for "old"er games in the bargain bin until the universally recognized gem in the genre you are looking for comes out . . . so MANY great games are in development - jut say "no" to mediocre games.

i think so. de2 and hl2 are gonna be great. gotta upgrade my cpu/mobo/ram though. the ti4200 should still be good.

well my school runs a packet shaping program, i cheated it and routed through the IE port, got caught, and if i get caught again i lose all privlages.

And deus sounds good, but to put my intrests into perspective, i LOVE fps, im a huge tribes freak and i have played on multiple top 5 teams, however i also LOVE rpgs. I was addicted to ff7, and im looking for something like that. The way i did that was i played it without a guide, beat it, then with a guide beat it, then again as fast as i could, 23 hours and i beat it

Tron2 is looking pretty hot if you are into FPS. I got the demo yesterday and it is a refreshing change from your typical FPS.

Warcraft III + Frozen Throne is cool, but I suppose single player gets boring after you've beat it and played with comps for a while.
