A friend is looking at new Honda CR-V's, Subaru Foresters. He also mentioned Nissans. The dealerships in my area have ridiculously high prices, because, I guess, there are only two major players across all the brands.

I told him to get his best price and I'd see what I could do on the net, but I'm not familiar with lease prices and how to go about that.

If anyone here knows where to point me, grats in advance.

We're in SE PA, an hour or so north of Philadelphia in Bucks County.

Truecar isn't what it used to be. Shop for the car price first IMHO. You don't have to lease through the dealer.

I tried truecar, it's a scam as far as I can tell. I was spammed to death after giving them my information, and the price truecar quoted didn't include any options. Waste of time.

Autotrader is a good starting point as well, just do a nationwide search for new cars of a given model and sort by price (lowest to highest), to get an idea of where the cost could be. Use the given price for negotiation with your local dealer and decide how much the local experience is worth to you.

For example I have a Focus ST. After I'd bought my car, there was a dealership in Maryland that was selling them for several thousand dollars below MSRP. There were a few people on the ST forums that flew to MD to buy the car and drive it home, others were able to get a good price at their local dealer by "threatening" to do so.

As for leasing, you can still negotiate the best price before negotiating the lease deal, but keep in mind that this is just going to be another pinch point for the dealer to make back some of the money they conceded on the pricing.

You can go into the menus on truecar and add options. Just like any other car valuation site.
