Do these emulators run without problems on Win2K? From waht i remember in the past, most only worked with W98.

Last time I used SNES emulator (a couple months ago) I was having trouble getting the sound to work.

I'd try again though. I want to play some Final Fantasy.

Nesticle was the bomb - it it's only for Dos/Win9x - I think FCE is probably the best one that'll work on NTFS

Nesticle works fine with Windows XP.

Never download emulators from a file-sharing network. Only get them from official homepages. www.vg-network.com has a list of emulator homepages and up-to-date release news.

I use nesticle in Win2k (w/NTFS) and it works like a charm.

In fact just last week I downloaded Guardian Legend and played it again for old times sake...such a fun game.

I started with Nesticle in '96...it is a terrible NES emulator. I don't know why it is still the one that n00bs find when they discover emulation.

They redid FF1 for the PS along with FF2, something to think about. You may want to concider a GBA with that card reading add on thing. It has lots of the older NES games for $5 each

I'd recommend JNES and/or RockNES. I've had the best luck with those two. For SNES, either ZSNES or Snes9X.

Nesticle. If you can't get sound on a WinNT box (NT4, 200, XP), go with FCE Ultra. Trying the japaense one now :).

Urg...please don't ever recommend Nesticle again. Nester, RockNES, and NEStron are all full-featured Win32-compatible emulators which work fine with Win9x/ME/NT/2k/XP...Nesticle is legacy crap.

heh, 'the guys'.. one guy made nesticle and genecyst, and he was a real arrogant prick. hung out in the same channel on irc for a few years before he disappeared. BIG time prick :) the whole emu scene to him was a joke, he seemed only to do it for himself (which is fine), but him and another guy from my channel were friends and theyd go and screw around with emu channel kids..

guy's a genius, but an asshole.

Update: NNNesterJ works flawlessly, but I can't find mention of hotkeys anywhere...which makes it inferior, because I need the mouse to save states. Otherwise it's great, as it hogs performance less than any other I've used.
