best music player?

no more itunes,no more sonicstage!

What you all got...I was thinking of going back to winamp....does it play m4a's, mp3's, wav's , ETC?

I used to use Winamp, but lately, it has been getting bloated.

I currently use WMP11 because it is the only thing that works with the hotkeys on my laptop. Even still, I like it more than I did Winamp. AFAIK, WMP will play mp3s natively (don't know about mp4s), but as long as you have codecs installed for non-native file types, it will play the files.

You could probably install a codec to solve that problem.

Does windows media player allow for library's etc...I have MP11 but I use it to just watch my DVDs and such. It looks nice but how's its load compared to itunes/winamp

IMO, the library function in WMP11 is much better than that of Winamp's. Several ways to organize your library and it can monitor your "My Music" (and other folders) so it keeps track of when you add/delete stuff.

foobar.

no m4a

Audio formats supported: MP1, MP2, MP3, MP4, MPC, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC / Ogg FLAC, WavPack, WAV, AIFF, AU, SND, CDDA, WMA.

O RLY? M4A is Apple's container for an AAC file in an MPEG4 container, I've bolded my proof.

so it will work with these m4a's? what about m3u's ?

I dont really know all of these formats, I have heard of them, but I didn't know some meant the same thing!

I use the VLC media player with a non default skin of course. I like it because it's slick and far from bloated, I've been using it to play Flac and the standard MP3, I also use it to listen to internet radio. You should make it a point to check it out http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

It works great for my videos, I know that! I haven't tried it as a main music player.

I'm pretty sure M3Us are playlists, and I know fb2k supports all sorts of weird playlists; shouldn't be a problem.

I use Winamp here on my windows machine. It has been getting bloated for a long time, I am annoyed by that. That being said, I haven't been annoyed enough to switch as of yet.
I use XMMS on my OpenBSD and Linux boxes (yes, I know it's outdated, but it works fine for me.)

another vote for wmp11.... its by far the best ui ive ever used once you get all of your music tagged properly and album art (it uses album art alot) but its worth it once you do.

Yep M3U = playlist and foobar supports it. It has the widest variety of filetype support, the smallest footprint, the best sound qualityand is customizable. Not sure why anyone would use anything else.
