What programs do you use to find other players for games?

Talking old school and newer......

Do you use GameSpy Arcade? http://www.gamespyarcade.com

Xfire? http://www.xfire.com

Steam? http://www.steampowered.com

What do you use for games like Doom and Duke Nukem 3D and other classics if you still play them online with others?

Give your reviews and suggestions and tips.

When it comes to old school gaming and non voice supported games. What voice program apps do you like to use?

Most games today use steam or their own servers, more and more are also using built in voice chat such as Left4Dead and DOW II (voice through windows live). Ventrilo & TeamSpeak are the two major voice apps used when there is no in game chat, but someone has to pay for the server you use.

For Doom, I bought it on the Xbox 360 which has MP servers, aside from the BF series I don't play older games online. I also never used gamespy and don't know what Xfire is.

I have xfire and steam running all the time. I almost always use Xfire to see what my friends are playing.
I think almost every game I own has asked me to install gamespy arcade, but I never have.

Yeah, Gamespy arcade is a joke. Xfire used to be great but seems like no one uses it anymore, but it's great on features.

Steam is great but only for games on steam.

Ventrilo or Teamspeak are nice for voice chat.

Hamachi is a great vpn for lan games over the internet.

Well, since all of my friends play Steam games, I use Steam for all of my Gamer-Communication needs.

Can't you use 'Add non-Steam game' feature?

I use Steam for Steam games. Otherwise I will use Vent for things like Counter Strike scrims or whatnot, or if I am just playing with one or two other people I prefer to ues Skype to talk.
