Best multiplier for the PIII 1GHz?

No, the multiplier is not adjustable on a P3.

Nonetheless, most P3-1ghz's use a 7.5 multiplier and a 133mhz fsb. Some use 10x100, but most are 7.5x133.

Hmmm... don't know... Cuz, I can't select 10x 100MHz, because the multiplier only goes up to 8x.

And If I select 7,5x 133MHz the monitor won't go on...

Dumb question but are you sure your RAM is PC 133? What is being posted with default settings?

What are the rest of your system specs, particularly the motherboard.

It's an Aopen mobo, when I reset the bios I starts up at default mode... = 666MHz
And if I select 8X100MHz it starts up with 10x100MHz...

Where can find which mobo I have (it ain't my computer and it's too late to call him)

Hmm... looks like it running at 1GHz when I selected the 8x100MHz manually....

(btw. the processor is a slot-in version)

Sounds like you need a BIOS update. Now you just need to figure out which model it is. You might want to open up the case, and see if there are any numbers on the board itself.

Is there a setting to let the motherboard configure the cpu automatically?

You might be able to tell by the post at the computer startup, what board you have.. some say across the bottom, my CUSL2-C says across the bottom what it is for example.. hope that helps.. the mobo is most likely and AX6BC or something like that, but I am not too sure to say anything, good luck finding out, may have to just open the case and look for a model no. Aopen's are pretty good with designations, etc..

Some older motherboards won't let you select higher than 8x. But it doesn't really matter. The multi is locked at 10x, so setting it to 8 in your bios doesn't matter,it will set itself to 10 anway.
