Best Multiplayer Action game out there??

I haven't been on the gaming scene for a while. Whats a good multiplayer game these days?

I'm used to playing Quake 3 / Halflife.

For pure action, UT2004 completelt owns BF2. BF2 is more of a comination of planning and skill, while UT2004 depends almost solely on skill. UT2004 is also extremely fast paced.

I would get both, as both are extremely good games.

Those kind of games are fast paced. BF2 would not be a good option. Try call of duty as it is a great faced paced shooter.

In all seriousness, Battlefield 2 is the best shooter I've played in years.

Call of Duty is awesome, but I certainly wouldn't call it fast-paced.

UT2004, BF2 as others have mentioned. UT2004 is more of a jump-right-in shooting game while BF2 relies more on planning and player classes; it is a modern day military FPS.

I like HL2/CS:S. It's what I play most. Then UT2004. I've played the BF2 demo, and it is pretty sweet, but I haven't ponied up the $50 for the game yet. I'll wait for a while for the price to come down. Presently awaiting the release of DoD.

Fast paced is UT2004, hands down. BF2 is awesome. DoDS is going to be awesome.

Otherwise, I'd just stick to CS:S and DoD.

All of the games listed so far are pretty good. You can't go wrong with neither of them.

I love natural selection its great fun, its the funnest hl and hl2 mod up to date in my opinion. And there hundreds of servers running probably one of the most popular mods to date.

BF2 is definitely the best all around game, in terms of skill/action/strategy. Hands down. BF2 is the best right now.

Battlefield 2 and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory are fun as HELL.
