Ive been using Coolplayer for the last year. I just reformated and I thought I would ask what you guys are using. I used to use Winamp until it started freezing my system when I tried to play cds through my cdrom.

Been running winamp since 96 ... It has worked great for me. I like 2.x, though 1.x and beta versions all work well too. I havent tried 3.0 and I don't plan on it unless there is a good reason too

I just switched to this from Winamp 2.9. I like it about the same, but I miss winamp's J button... the one that lets you search for a song within the playlist.... QCD has a plugin that does it, but it's really damned slow.

winamp 2.91 with the nucleo_nlog skin continues to rule here. just awesome. with the winamp
libray open and a few hundred radio stations displayed, how can you beat that ?

So what makes foobar better? I find it seems to be a little cleaner then winamp. I have monsoon mh505 speakers and they seem to be awfully picky (seem to break up easily if any distortion in the sound). I play mainly mp3 and wav files.

Major geeks don't use mp3 unless they really have to.

True, they use OGG but Foobar handles them too, perhaps I should've said media player rather than MP3 :)

if you have the mh505's you need coolplayer, it loves those speakers

Have just downloaded it. Will give it a try. I am waiting for an audigy 2 oem to arrive, that may make a difference also. Can not be worse then the p4p800 onboard sound anyways.

I use winamp 2.x. It works great, I know the in's and out's of it, the plugins I need are for it (hotkey controller plugin for gaming, spc player for music ripped from SNES games, etc), works good for some online radio stations I listen to, etc.

This is all personal opinion here. For me, Apple iTunes is hands down the best MP3 player I have ever used. The Windows port of it should be available in December. I will be using it on Windows as well as on my Apple. I think it's worth checking out.

Anyone know which player uses the least memory resources?
And by best, we have to look at the total picture... IE Coolplayer doesnt support plugins, Winamp does etc.

EDIT:
foobar seems to use more resource mem then Winamp... havent compared any others.

Yeah they do. Maybe you just mean anal audiophile nerds.
