I have about 4400 songs in my MP3 folder of which many have incomplete or crappy tags. What program gives the best tagging results?

I know Winamp has this functionality built it, but some people are saying Gracenote's database sucks bad. Thoughts?

I use MP3 Tag Pro. It supports batch processing and can automatically name as many mp3 files as you like. I like it, 'cause it can also find and download song lyrics and album cover and allows to organize and keep mp3 collection in order.

This doesn't work at all if you don't have the album name.
I am very disappointed.

Another big screw up is that if you are re-tagging a whole album, you need to manually sort the songs, so they are in the same order as in the tag download - otherwise it will ignore ANY existing ID3 tags/duration/other info and rename all songs incorrectly.

Anyone know any other better programs?

I also tried MusicBrainz Picard but that program is a little stupid too, since it doesn't recognize when songs belong to the same album.

I use Tag&Rename since years, it can auto tag all the files in a folder in one shot byu grabbing the artist name - title name from the file name itself, or it can allow you to multi edit certain tags.....

let's say you have an album with all the songs missing the album name and you want to have all the ID 3 Album name for those songs changed at once, so you can multi select all the songs and put the field you want and it will do the magic.

Also useful to remove comments or websites that are sometimes embedded in the MP3s so I choose my entire MP3 folder and clear the comments field for all of them in one shot!

You could try PerfectTUNES from dbPoweramp. It's not free, and it's still a bit buggy, but it will process many hundreds of albums, including album art, in 15-20 minutes. Only catch is that it must be able to identify the artist and album from the folder names. It also fixes incorrectly or incompletely tagged files you've already done with other programs.

mp3tag is the best.

If you didn't want the best, you shouldn't have asked for the best.

Have you tried using MusicBrainz? It can do full automatic tagging in a lot of cases, by attempting to figure out what the song is using music signatures.
