Well, that's ok... it's not for you. Sucks for you though, as most movies have that. I have 2 types of "Good" movies. Ones that are actually quality films like Shawshank, Braveheart, etc.... then the other type of good movie is the fun ones, but not so much quality... Big Trouble in Little China, Road Trip, etc. Matrix was kind of a combination of the two types for me, so I liked it. But if you don't like Sci-fi comic book type movies, you probably wouldn't like it.

Traffic is one of the best I've ever seen. Magnolia and Pulp Fiction are also excellent movies.

I'd better keep my opinion to myself, lest somebody come in and tell me how poor my choice is and how movies now-a-days all suck.

My personal favorite:
-Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window

Close behind that:
-Casablanca
-Raiders of the Lost Ark

This thread has a strange dichotomy going on. On the one hand nearly half the threads that discuss movies on ATOT these days end up talking about how all movies in recent years suck (which obviously isn't totally true, although I think there's some merit to the belief that a lot of contemporary movies are under-thought or over-produced these days just for the sake of having them out there.) But then people turnaround and the vast majority of movies listed here were probably made within the last 10 years. It's the same younger-bias skew you see on the IMDB. Granted, there have been some great movies made during contemporary times. Shawshank is a fantastic film. I'm just personally burned out from seeing it on DVD and TNT 100+ times.

I don't think I could pick a single movie. Here's a few I never get tired of watching, some old, some new:

Wizard of Oz
Arsenic and Old Lace
Treasure of the Sierra Madre
African Queen
Citizen Kane
Godfather I and II
Chinatown
Saving Private Ryan
Unforgiven
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Dr. Strangelove

You can probably add LOTR to this but it's too new of a release to consider.
