Best Mousepad for optical mouse?

Sounds dumb, mousepad for optical mouse but it isnt tracking well on my new desktop. Any idea of what mousepad is good from experience? Ive read reviews about the FuNc surface and the ratpad but was wondering which is better. What color would a red led read best on, green? BTW, im a gamer so I would need only the best mousepad out, 😛

The mousepad makes no difference at all. Just don't get one that is white or reflective. That seems to screw up mouse movement. Also, get one that has a really flat surface. Sometimes if you go over a deep grove the mouse will get sporadic on you.

white isn't necessarily the problem... its the texture that is.

I use a blank sheet of printing paper, and it works fine.
(except for the burned dots that it leaves on the paper) Im serious!

I'm using a bright orange cloth mopusepad that RoadRunner gave me when they installed my cable modem. It is, hands down, the best mousepad I have ever used.

ratpad on an intellimouse explorer, it is very nice and smooth, especially for gaming. I have heard good things about the func too.

God I wish your sig was true nowadays......hehehe thanks for the input, I may get a func if I can find somewhere that takes paypal.

Another recommendation for the func Surface 1030 pad. I've used both the Everglide and the 3M PMS. The func pad is definitely the best.

I love my 3M Precision Mousing Surface.

It was the best ever pad with my old ball mouse, and it works great for my optical too. Plus it's really thin, meaning I'm not going to tip over a drink if I set it on the corner of the pad.

Knew it would come down to the three...FuNC, ratpad and generic. The tables not working well, really dont want generic sooooo down to the func or ratpad. Read all the reviews and I think I'm going for the func, has a mouse clip too.

I dunno if youre being sarcastic or serious but Im tired of putting the mouse cord under the monitor foot, it chaffs the cord. Its a good idea, I also like the dual sided idea as well.

I have the Logitech cordless optical mouse, and the Logitech website suggested something that's white / bright color in order to conserve battery. I'm currently using a piece of paper affixed to a mouse pad with double stick tape, and battery life seem to have gone up considerably. I also noticed that the mouse emits brighter red lights when used on black/dark surface, and much dimmer lights when used on white surface. Most mouse pads seem to be of the dark color variety though. Have anyone seen a plain white mousepad?

The paper solution works OK for a while but it keeps getting wrinkled by moisture so it has to be replaced pretty often.

I use a fUnc pad I have never looked back, it's so smooth and doesn't move around, and plus the cord can't get caught because of the built in mouse clip. It's a sweet pad, and I've had mine for almost a year now. just transport it in it's tin casing and it is a great buy!
