Best mousepad for gaming?

I have an intellimouse explorer and up until now I haven't used a mousepad. But I find it very hard to make small movements with it when gaming. Will a good mousepad solve the problem? If so can anyone reccommend one? Thanks!
 
You could get func pads 1030, which is a very good mousepad.
It's expensive though around $20.00 at www.act-labs.com.


Mousepad is very important for me since a slight reduction
in smoothness really bothers me. I used to put a grease on my
MS Explorer mouse just so that it can glide 🙂

Personally, I enjoy the Everglide mouse pads. That's what I use with my Intellimouse Explorer.
 
3M Flat ribbed mouse pad, best out there for the money, it's as thin as a sheet of paper but works extremely well. Any office Max carries them I beleive.
 
another vote for the 3M mouse mats. They are sweet although they tend not to last too long. Otherwise get yourself an optical, no need for a mousepad then 😀
 
Personally, i dont use a mouse, i havn't for a number of years (Logitech TrackMan). My roommate has a Ratpadz which he swears by (he uses an intellimouse explorer), it is big though (about 12" x 9&quot😉, which is probably good because it forces you to give yourself enought room for your mousing.
 
interesting thing I came across the other day at a buddy's place.

He's hardcore CS player and he uses a generic Best Buy cloth mousepad. He says when he plays for a while his hand sweats and sticks to the surface of the hard mousepads but the cloth ones absorb it.

I've definitely had the same problem with my Everglide and I'm wondering if anyone else has found a solution other than turning up the AC or using a cloth mousepad 🙂
 
I like my Evergilde pad and Logitech Wing Man pad. Everglide pad is faster, but the Logitech pad is more accurate. Also the Everglide pad tend to wear out the boottom feet of my Boomslang mouse.
 
I use Everglides at home and at work (CAD modeling). They're pretty good and let you move the mouse very quickly. I don't recommend the 3M pad because for me it was just too slow, too much friction even tho it allows very precise mousing.

As far as the hand sweating problem, it's not an issue because for best ergonomics you're not supposed to have your palm resting on the mouse pad. It's better to get a chair with adjustable arm rests so your wrist is supported at just the right height.

I'll also throw in a recommendation for the Logitech Wingman Gaming Mouse, it's a 3 button job but I don't miss the wheel at all. It's very comfortable to use for long periods of time.
 
I'm suprised there hasnt been alot of votes for ratpadz...I have one and I love it with my MS Optical Mouse...

No, the oil from your hand build up on the glass and your mouse is hard to move.
 
i have kensington sport which is kind of rubber and textured. it has wrist support. get one with wrist support. your wrists will thank you for staving off carpel tunnel syndrome 😀

Well, that and the fact that optical mice won't work on glass... A laser can't pick anything up on a reflective surface... just thought I'd point that out, just incase you were actually gonna try it... hehehe

I jsut swithced over to a ratpadz from a 3M mousing sourface and this thing blows away all mousing surfaces I have used previuosly...

I recently saw a study that shows no link between computer use (keyboard and mouse) and carpel tunnel syndrome.
 
hah, i myself prefer my Microsoft mouse pad. It has printed on there, &quot;Be sure it's leagal, 1800 RU-LEGIT.&quot; hah, this mousepad works well with my optical mouseman. other than that, i just use those ghetto cloth pads, they feel really good to me.

Not with an optical mouse, but then again you could get a real mouse like the Razor Boomslang and then just get an icemat. Talk about some great fragging, the boom slang takes a while to get used to but once you do, you won't go back. Its all about personal preference.
 
Yah razor boomslangs are good. The company keeps going out of buisness, and I have never ever heard one that lasts more than 1 year. A IBM 75GXP 45GB is more reliable than a boomslang.

Yes they feel awesome and fit your hand great, but too many issues. My logitec wheelman optical was only like $50 and it is great, it should last 10 years.
 
You can configure Windows to NOT accelerate the mouse when you move it, and also to just reduce the mouse movement speed.

Well hopefully my boomslang lasts longer than a year, but from what i've read Razor has Labtec taking care of warranty issues.
