I am surprised that there is not a post about this yet! I did a search and I couldn't find any. Which is the best mouse around? sth reasonably priced that is. Don't need a wireless one though.

Thanx.

It just so happens that a wireless mouse will soon be the best:
The upcomming Wireless Intellimouse Explorer is up to 3 times "faster" (Translates to "DPI" in the optical world) than any before it.
Should make a MUCH more comfortable alternative to the Razor mouse's performance, Intellimouse Pro's comfort, & Intellimouse Optical/Explorer's convienience.
I'd say, GET IT.

well.
so far there arent any wireless mouse that provides good enough solution for a gamer that requires very fast action like FPS games such as CS and quake..
if they dont improve it.
no one is going to buy it.
no matter how much dpi they have for their mouse

Is the razor all that it's cut out to be ?

The whole 'mouse thing' has been discussed before (probably a while back tho'). I found 'eye' mice to not react quickly enough. Very fast movements (like doing a quick 180 in UT or Q3) confused it and left you pointing in a random direction. Mind you, others found they could cope with it once they knew its limits.

well i had originally denounced the intellimouse explorer when it first came out but after owning and using one for about 6 month now i can say that i am very satisfied with the shape and comfort of it as well as the convenience of so many buttons. it also matches my Samsung 150MP's case perfectly.

I use a Logitech Optical Wheelmouse. Eventually I will probably go for Cordless but I would like to stick with optical. What is the battery life like on the Cordless Optical solutions offered by Microsoft and Logitech?

The Wireless Explorer is supposed to calm any gamer's concerns about the Explorer series optical mice. It's MUCH faster than the others, specifically for games.

As you probably knew, the third generation logitech opticals are out w/ double the DPI of the last models, now being at 800 DPI. You can now effectively do 'flick' shots in FPS games while the second generation models would spazz out. These mice are now just as good as ball mice for flicking, w/o having to clean them, I highly recommend them.

The Logitech Mouseman Wheel (optical or not), is very comfortable for me. I have a "thing" for buying just about ANYTHING other than MS ;)

Actually a few companies have tried "gaming" mice ie logitech wingman.. razer boomslang... but they have ultimately failed due to little support. However, they were "designed" for gaming with higher precision, better feel etc.
I still recommend the new 800DPI logitech opticals (can be found in red) they are $30 at any compusa...

I stocked up on those Logitech Gaming Mice when they were on clearance at Best Buy for $10 a piece...man i LOVE that mouse. 3 buttons, no wheel, perfect shape, high resolution...great for gaming. I don't think you can find them around anymore though.

The new Microsoft Laptop wheel Mouse will be released soon. it features a shorter cord and a USB native connector. (With a PS/2 adapter I believe) Plus, it's black. It has the same shape as the standard MS wheel mouse, which is one of my favorite mouses. The standard MS Wheel Mouse has VERY smooth motion and is perfect for Q3 and UT. Currently, I use a Logitech WheelMouse Optical for my laptop, it looks GREAT with a Presario 1800 series laptop! I would never recommend this mouse for most surfaces though. Also, the MouseMan series sux ASS. The pointer seems jittery no matter what Im using it for, I find it difficult to even click buttons and links.
