Best mouse, Logitech, Microsoft

I have both (Microsoft corded optical + Logitech cordless optical). The MS is very nicely designed and fits hand great, as well as having 5 buttons (versus 4 on LG). However I can't overestimate how good it feels not to be restrained by the cord (snagging, catching, etc..,). The only thing to beware of is that if you are installing new OS and drivers the optical cordless can be a pain in the ass especially if plugged in USB port.

Final vote - Logitech Cordless

BTW, My MS Intellimouse Optical did break but it was 100% my fault. I was moving furniture and the cord got snagged and it was crushed by my desk as I moved it (damn cords!). Otherwise it seemed very durable.

WHY CHOOSE?

just use both and have the best of both worlds.. i rock the exploder none stop in IE, but when the frag calls the logitech wheel mouse does the barking🙂

exploder on PS2
wheel mouse on USB

I would not be able to continue to live if something happend to my LOGITECH cordless optical wheel mouse!!! I think i'm in love with it! 😉

Logitech, just a better overall package.

How is the cordless for gaming? Is it passable? Bad, good? I want to know cos I am thinking of getting one too and I would love to have a cordless so I can control my PC from my bed without a stupid cable.

I love my logitech first mouseman, except that the wheel thingy lost its grip so its kind of hard to roll the wheel. Other than that its great.
And now ill be getting the logitech iFeel mouse for only 20 canadian pesos... not too shabby 🙂

In a computing world where mindless brand loyalty primarily leads to paying too much for too little, Logitech is the one company that I do not hesitate to turn to when looking for a mouse to purchase.

My first Logitech was the MouseMan Wheel a couple of years ago. Today, I've got four Logitech mice for my computers, the latest being the Cordless MouseMan Optical that you're thinking about.

The ergonomics of the CMMO does take a little getting used though. When I first started using it, I didn't like it very much (the thumb button is a bit too small), but after a couple of days, I got used to it and love it like the rest of my Logitech rodents. 🙂

Basically, I don't think you can go wrong with Logitech. I've tried the MS Optical Mice at work, but after using Logitechs, there just isn't any comparison in my book.

I play CS with it and I think it's okay. Of course, I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I may not be that picky/perceptive when it comes to responsiveness.

The main thing that took a bit of getting used to for gaming is the weight of the mouse. But once you use it for awhile, you become accustomed to it.

If I really need a good refresh rate for FPS, I'll just hook up another mouse for gaming sessions. For everything else, once you go cordless, there simply is no going back.

MICROSOFT intellimouse explorer

works best for me. I have tried so many mice and it really is a matter of what works for the individual, the size of there hands, the size of their workspace etc. I use a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer (optical, 5 buttons) and love them. They aren't very rugged so don't plan on dropping it and getting much life out of it at the same time!

I love the 5 buttons and the larger size to fit my hand. I have to put a little foam thumb rest on the side though to rest it closer to the thumb button. This ergonomic stuff is pretty serious...any mouse that gives some pain or fatigue should be history for that person, save your receipt! 🙂

I game but I'm not fanatic. I might pick one up and keep another around for gaming. I just want the luxury of cordless and optical 🙂

Another vote for Logitech. I have heard of some problems concerning the MS mice...I think the optical one in particular.

I am going to have to say Logitech, even though I haven't bought a logitech mouse since '96 - My MS intellimouse explorer has died on me at least 5 times, and although MS has replaced it 3 of those times (the first couple of times the store took it.) It can be pretty annoying to be without a mouse for three days every four to six months.

i love my intellimouse explorer, but for some reason MS is being a bitch and is trying not to replace it, even though the led is starting to die. its a first generation explorer, so its a couple years old. to me, the logitech mice feel awkward, especially their asymetic mice.

another vote for logitech.

of course i've never used an MS mouse so it really isn't fair, but i've had the logitech marble + w/ wheel. best ever. it's temporarily on the fritz, i lost one of the ball bearings to it, bought a mouse and OMG mouses take up soo much desktop space. how can u guys live w/ them. i love trackballs in particular Logitechs Marble trackball.

WHATEVER YOU DO....DON'T GET A MS INTELLIMOUSE EXPLORER!!!!! I swear this thing is gonna cripple my hands! The thing is HUGE and pretty darn BULKY. The right side of my right hand becomes crippled with pain within 15 minutes of use. Sure it's awesome and precise, but would you still like to use your hands when you're 50?!? I thought so! Don't get it! It will give you arthritis...I always end up holding the damn thing funny with my pinky and my ring finger curled cause they are in such agony. Or sometimes I end up just pushing it around with my palm. Curse you MS!

NJArtist, do you wear shoes 3 sizes too big for you? no, because they would give you blisters. if the intellimouse explorer is too big for you, then get a new mouse. i have big hands, and the mouse fits my hand beautifully. in fact, it is the most comfortable mouse i have ever used. don't blame your own physical short comings on microsoft. they might be the devil, but they didn't give you small hands.
