i am a gamer. i think my mouse kinda suck, so i am here to ask u guys opinions. what mouse you think is the best for gaming?

I like my Intellimouse Explorer. 5 buttons, so I can lay prone with the left clicky, shoot with the left button, enter/exit vehicles with the middle mouse button, switch weapons with the middle mouse scroll, jump with the right button, and reload with the right clicky, all in BF1942.

MICROSOFT INTELLIMOUSE OPTICAL 5 BUTTON for only 20.00 (OEM version).

If you purchase the MS optical mouse do so online because you can find them for less then $20 when compared to places like Staples or Best Buy. They will charge you $35 plus.

-Great mouse and great for games. I use mine all the time!

🙂

The Logitech MX-300 or MX-500 is probably better. I know that another hardware site run by a german fella had a pretty good review a few months ago on different mice good for gaming. Apparently the new MX-technology is supposed to give better accuracy.

IMO the MX-300 which I currently use is an excellent mouse and is way better than the MS Explorer one that my brother has.

I can't falter my Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical, and Logitech Cordless iTouch keyboard as a combo 😀

Cordless, optical, very accurate! 🙂

Confused

One caveat with these guys. The damn wheel isn't recognized in certain games if you install the Logitech mouseman software (like UT2003 for example). Why logitech dropped the ball on this is completely beyond me.

This has been corrected with the newest MouseWare.

Has it? Latest update at their site is dated 11/27/2002. I have the 9.75 installed and UT2003 still isn't convinced that I have a mouse wheel.

I haven't run UT2003 on my can yet so I can't speak for/against that statement.
It's true that there are some games who don't fully support the Logitech mouse wheel but the vast majority do with the latest drivers.
I know that that the cordless MS optical mice have a low update frequency in the communication between the mouse and the receiver in order to save battery power, effectively obliterating the whole reason for using optical sensors. I haven't found any info on the update frequency on the cordless MX-700 and wouldn't automatically recommend that one.

I do feel that the accuracy of the optical sensor of the MX-series does make a difference when it comes to FPS-games such as Battlefield 1942 which I'm totally addicted to. 😀

/Matt or Havoc for those who look at the wrong end of my K98.

Razer Boomslang 2000dpi, old school sytle.

edit: 2000 dpi, my mistake, I checked my box and that's what I'm using.

I didnt know Razer made a 3000dpi version? Anyways the Razer Boomslang 2000dpi is a great great mouse but I found myself having to clean it way too often. I made the switch to Logitech Dual Optical and it seems to be great for games.

Yeah, other than the scrolling issues, it's a great mouse. The difference for FPS games is noticeable.

Get a nice pad like a Ratpadz or Everglide, and you'll have to clean it much less. Remember, choosing the mousepad is AS important as choosing the mouse.

I been through them all!!!! 🙂 MS intellimouse wireless explorer, MX700, MS explorer 1.0, 3.0a, MX500, etc. Do not buy a MS wireless mouse for your gaming pleasure it is a waste of your hard earn cash but instead get the MX700 🙂.

Over all the most responsive mouse in the wireless industry goes to the MX700 hands down. But if corded mouse is your preference I'll have to say the Original MS intellimouse explorer 1.0 is the best of them all!!!! too bad they switch those big side buttoms with plastic ones in the 3.0a version. 🙁

I used to have the Intellimouse Optical. That mouse OWNED!

I know have a MX700. It too is great, BUT, the software sux for gaming. I have the 9.75 drivers installed. Scroll works fine in CS, but the other buttons do not work for me in-game. I can assign the buttons in the configuration, but they don't respond in-game. I even tried using the software to assign specific keyboard buttons to the mouse buttons, then assigning the keyboard button to a function in the game, still no go. It's as if the buttons arent' even there.

It really sucks because I've finally gotten used to the mouse itself, but i've got to use the keyboard to reload and zoom in with my AWP now!!!

My MX700 has been wonderful, especially, since I have larger hands. I don't know anything about small mice, I hate them, so if you're looking for one of those I can't help. The only thing is you have to remember to put it on its charger at night, as if the batteries are low and you're gaming weird things start happening. If you forget once you'll learn your lesson.

MX500. I didn't care for the Boomslang mouse. Not easy to hold. MX500's wheel gets recognized fine in UT2003 for me. I like the feel of Intellimouse, but I like MX500 better.
