Hey guys,
any suggestions for a good mac mouse? I can't stand using this idiotic thing... steve jobs needs to deflate his ago and make something with two or more real buttons.

I love Macs, but I can't stand their mice either. Pretty much any mouse you buy will work with OS X. Be sure to invest in Steermouse, it's the best $20 you can spend on your mouse imo:

I use a Logitech MX510 (wired) at home and a Logitech VX Revolution (wireless) on-the-go with my laptop. My wife has a Logitech MX1000. Steermouse lets you adjust the mouse however you like and program all of the buttons for whatever functions you want (Expose, Dashboard, Forward/Back, etc.).

side buttons useless (no good way to grab them without moving your hand) and the right button click doesn't work unless you lift your left finger off the surface of the mouse. Especially the latter makes for horrid human interaction, since right clicking is one of the most frequent activities on the device.

Right now I'm getting by with the Mighty Mouse even though it's not ideal. I tried the highly recommended VX Revolution and the drivers caused frequent kernel panics on my system. If a better Bluetooth laser mouse comes along, I'll probably buy it.

I actually didn't mind the mighty mouse when I used to use it.

But if you don't like it, I'd recommend any other Logitech mouse

I have the same two button Logitech "Click!" mouse I did the day I started working here, more than four years ago.

The slight texture on the plastic has been worn smooth, the logo on the top has worn off. Otherwise it still works flawlessly - tracks precisely and smoothly. I use the mouse for most of my work with LOTS of clicking. Both buttons are still in great shape, which is saying something. - I had a click-o-meter widget for a while and I usually fell somewhere between 10 and 15k clicks per day - I usually kill a keyboard every 1-1.5 years (option and command keys are usually the first to go).

In other words, I can't speak more highly about this particular mouse, though I've got no idea if they're all this solid.

If you can get to Target before October 1st (and before they run out of supply), the Logitech MX518 is on sale for $30 (it might still show for $40 or even $50, but price scan it and it should be $30 and check out as $30). This mouse has plenty of tried and true buttons, plus you can adjust DPI without drivers and thus avoid screwing with Apple's horrible mouse sensitivity settings.

I know how you feel though, I have to use a C2D iMac in one of my classes and I can't stand the mighty mouse. For me it isn't just the button(s) - the tracking just sucks in comparison to the mice I use, I bring in my own to use in class.

Don't install the drivers - just use Steermouse. Both my wife and I use VX Revolution mice with our Mac laptops and they're fantastic :)

I was hoping they'd introduce a cool new mouse to go with the new aluminum MacBook-style keyboard, but it wasn't meant to be.

Oh, and BTW, if they know it and willingly not do it, then that's just plain ignorant. That was a joke btw, you need batteries in both your sarcasm meter, your humoramameter, AND your vibrator.

Blasphemy! How dare you mock one of the fine creations of his Holiness Jobs the first!?! Steve knows what's best, and you should all worship his infinite technology wisdom! :)

Would any of you gurus have some advice on this: a friend of mine is trying to get one of the new Apple Bluetooth keyboards to work with her XP-equipped Dell (I know this is heresy, but still...). Does anyone have any experience replacing XP's Bluetooth stacks or some other solution that could make this work? I seem to remember that "bullsonparade" posted some solution a couple of years ago but can't locate it now.
Thanks for any help!
