Which 1156/1366 cooler has the best mounting system?
Price does not matter.
I thought that the Megahalem had a great one the first time I used it,
and got good temps. After several uses, I am not getting as good temps as
the first time, and don't know why. I had used Thermalright stuff for years
before.

promeg should be it for you. their mountain system is second to none in ease and security. if you dislike promeg, maybe the venomous x is more to your liking also strong mounting system.

I'll add the Noctua NH-D14 to the option list. Great mounting system.

But if you grow tired of easy, secure, simple mounting, can I suggest the Mugen 2? Installing it can be classified as an extreme desktop sport.

I've currently a Prolimatech Megahalem & can vouch for its ease of install.
While I haven't seen a NH-D14, if it's anything like the NH-U12P, it's an easy install as well.

If you see in my OP, I have a Megahalems as well.
I had it north-south, then needed it east-west for a case configuration, and
then I had issues and could not achieve any similar temps. This was before it
was to go into my case, so the case was not the problem. I just couldn't achieve
a good clamp down the second time, and tried a third with similar results.
