What I found interesting was that the results of the 5 lap race was different than the time attack. The 458 Italia walked away with it. I think the paddle shifting may have helped a bit too. The ZR1 and 360 Modena were kind of equal, with the ZR1 being able to pull away on the straights while the 360 Modena seemed to reel it in by mid corner. Of course the 458 Italia seemed to ever so slightly pull away in the straights while being even in the corners.

I think the 458 Italia and ZR1 were being driven at their limits because the drivers were often shown to be struggling with the steering coming out of corners. Seriously, other than that the driver of the 458 Italia seemed to be just out for a Sunday drive, with little flicks of the fingers for uneventful gear switches. I can totally see how this can make a great competitive advantage, though on the streets I'll stick with my archaic manual transmission, thank you very much.

The domestics were plainly just outclassed in power, with easy passes by the Ferraris and the ZR1 in the long straight.

What was the deal with the brake smoke in one of the early corners by the 370Z?

Pretty odd selection of cars. The Honda hasn't been sold for years, and it and the Z were no where near factory, while the ZR1 and 458 both appeared to be. I don't think a worse track could be picked for the ZR1, and to a lesser extent the 458. Such a tight track as Tsukuba really handicaps huge HP RWD cars especially when it is really cold which it appeared to be with snow on the ground. The driver was clearly struggling to get the power down in the ZR1. Neither of the Ferrari's or the ZR1 were even getting warmed up with a top speed of 125MPH, and they still ditched the domestics.
