Build it yourself, you will save money in the long run.

As for the best motherboard, what kind of processor are you wanting to run?

I would say the abit Ab9-pro, best bang for your buck for an intel system.

If you want to be able to upgrade for a long time you will need either an AM2 system or a Core2Duo system, the older sockets are on the way out.

How much are you wanting to spend total?

im configuring different comps for the best deal

for 1800 your can build a damn good system, all it takes is a little research on how to put everything together.

Remember though Core2Duo or AM2. . otherwise your going to be screwed in a year or two.

If you don't know already www.newegg.com is the best place to look.

the mobo will come with a driver CD.
Once you have the ethernet driver installed (I'm assuming that you have cable or ADSL for your internet access) you can then access the net to get the latest & greatest.
If you have an USB modem you won't even need the ethernet driver .

C2D is the best right now. I am running 2 AMD based systems and recommending C2D for new builds, hand down (unless its under $500).

That's a really bad reason not to build yourself...a good one would be that you don't have the time, or that the last 5 times you tried to build yourself it all went up in smoke... :p

Pick out the components for your PC now, and download the current drivers on the computer that you're using to visit this forum. Burn them to a CD, copy to a flash drive, etc

Problem solved. :)

One of the reasons why Conroe is better right now that alot of people dont think about is that some of the current Conroe mobos are QuadCore compatible. This will extend the life of a system IMO greatly. No one knows yet wether AMD's quad chip version will work with existing AM2 mobos or require a whole new mobo when it comes out. Something to consider if you are looking for a long term rig.

I see that your bold face items are S939 boards. You should move to an AM2 platform if you wanna go AMD. I think Intel has the best value right now so you might want to reconsider.

Regarding the AMD path...

Nothing supports DX10 right now, but just about all mobos have a PCIe x16 slot for upgrading in the future when DX10 GFX appears.

NVIDIA's latest and greatest is Nforce5 series I think, so you should stick with that for now. If you want integrated graphics then the Geforce 6150 is the best out now. It is also Vista Capable...
