Planning on overclocking a Duron 600 to 1Ghz. I bought this CPU from a guy who pretests them. It's settings are multiplier 10, 100mHZ FSB at 1.85V. My question is what board is best for this PC? The Microstar? Isn't it non-jumper free? I will have a 75GXP as the hard drive.

overclocking a 600 duron to a gig would be really tough, unless you got some REALLY heavy duty hsfs. (Id really like details on how to do it though, because Im about to get a 650 duron I was hoping to get up to 850). Anyway, I have heard the Abit KT7-RAID board has an awsome multiplier in the BIOS, easy and reliable. Im pretty sure its jumperless, but Im not 100% sure.

Here's a quote regarding Socket-A mobo's from Ace's Hardware:

"
For those who want to make up their minds fast:

ABIT's KT7 is one of the cheaper socket A boards, and is a pure overclockers' board. Unfortunately the ABIT will not work with HSDRAM, and a quick user and reseller survey shows a (slightly) higher problem rate than the other two. In my humble opinion, it is the best buy for the hard-core overclocker who is not afraid of experimenting, but not for the average consumer.

ASUS' A7V is one of the best performers. Very few users have problems and it overclocks even slightly better than the ABIT KT7. The only real problem is the higher price tag and the fact that you can't use the BIOS to change the multiplier.
MSI's K7T Pro2 is a very stable board (with bios version 1.7), that overclocks well, but is limited in terms of supported FSB settings. Additionally, the range of higher core voltage is more restricted. The K7T Pro2 is, however, the "safest" Socket A motherboard, perfect for "sometimes absent-minded" people like me. The K7T Pro2 prevented our Athlon from being burned out twice, and it also carries a reasonable price tag.
