Hi guys, below is my setup which I am going to buy. What motherboard would be best for it and why? Also if you see any improvements that I can make please feel free to tell me.

CPU: Intel i5-4690k
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4GB
Graphics Card: r7 260x
Hard drive: WD 1TB 3.5inch

I am trying to keep the costs below £500 ($750) so the maximum price for the motherboard should be £80 ($125).

you have not mentioned a couple of things like your power supply..cpu cooler ..case and operating system but for widows 4g is the minimum ...8g would be better ....also you may want to spend..or may have to spend more on a mother board...asrock seem to be among the best bang for buck ...getting one with a decent chipset is important..asrock extreme 4 are quite reliable .

As a starting point, a possible selection of components is shown here at a total cost of £490.02.

Motherboard chosen is basic but should be reliable for most tasks.

8 GB memory selected as a 2 x 4 GB DIMM configuration for dual channel operation which is preferred over single channel operation.

PSU chosen is reliable which is important in a system.

Operating system and case not included in above list.

there is no substitute for wattage imho the power supply is what you should pay most attention too if your even half the mad gamer..and only running one video card..don’t stitch your self up spend extra on a gold or platinum supply i would go with a corsair 750 gold you will upgrade to more hard ware and then you have piece of mind that your supply is good for the job... and 8 gig of ram 2x4gig sticks in dual channel...and thanks to lukart for the kind gesture....as i know very little of seasonic but have looked at some they seem to be your high quality supply`s where you are...

The power requirement for the proposed system using components as per post #3, is about 250W. The suggested PSU at 450W has more than enough capacity to supply the required power. And there is spare PSU capacity for overclocking/upgrading.

Getting a quality PSU rated (much) more than 450W will put the cost over budget (more than £500).

I agree. Quality matters more here than high wattage. I like the choice of the Seasonic S12G 450 Gold, unless he plans on adding a high end GPU in the future.
