Hi All,

I know this is a redundant question. I'm planning to upgrade my PC with new motherboaard and Processor. I have decided to go for Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Processor. What would be the best motherboard to go with this. I'm not much into Overclocking or games but I want a mobo which is stable without giving any issues.
I have enquired in some of the shops and most of them are selling Intel DG 965 RY Motherboard. Is this is a good mobo? I checked out on other boards like MSI 965 Neo and Platinum but they are very expensive. My budget is $100 to $150(less than Rs 6,000). Please help!

I would tell you to look at a mb with a nvidia 680i or 650i chipset. Which one depends on your budget however I run msi at the moment. Why nvidia? Because among other things the drive controllers are integrated into the sb and have native vista support minimizing problems. I must admit that I'm partial to nvidia and every machine in the house, amd & intel, run on their chipsets.

I would have to suggest an evga t1 or a1 revirsion of the 650i and 680i those are the best and stable boards also support quad if you choose to go down that road later and also 1333fsb.

If you have no interest in OC'ing and are looking for pure stability first and foremost then look at Intel MB's

Exactly what I was going to say. Intel has always trumped 3rd party chipset makers in this area.

I would go for the Asus P5K. It is just under the $150ish mark and even without overclocking, you will gain the benefit of a better memory controller. If you want to save some cash, get a Gigabyte DS-3 or S-3 board.
