Best Motherboard Brand

DFI if you want to o/c to the max
ASUS is in my opinion just as good, but with a little less options for o/c
I have no opinion on Soltek

Where's the option for ECS?!? 😉

My vote goes for DFI.

Huh? Soltek?

There isn't a best brand really. I find asus consistantly uses good parts. Dfi consistantly overclocks best. But for best boards? Value comes into play and every generation of boards has a different winner there.

I would have to say that there is no "best brand". Each of the major brands release excellent boards every once and a while and complete duds other times. Just be sure to read reviews about the particular model board you're interested in before buying.

But for overclocking, generally DFI is best. Asus has a long-term stability/quality reputation that has probably carried on to their newer boards. Epox is generally good for budget overclockers, giving good overclock options at a very cheap price. Never had a soltek 🙂

I have gone with many different boards. I did have a Gigabyte K8NS SlI not too long ago (and the last one was a ASUS A8N SLI, returned). Great board with a whole bunch of extra goodies (had firewire 800 port and SATA 2.0!) but this board is one of the best stock, and stock only. Since I have a 3200+ Winnie, I wanted to get a decent overclock (top clock for gigabyte was 2.15mhz), so not great at all for overclocking. So I spent an extra $40 and got a REAL board: DFI Lanparty SLI-DR, right now I have a 2.7MHz core speed with a HTT at 2.4Ghrz, super fast and stable (CPU temp at 41 deg. C) I have a couple of fans going but everything is AIR COOLED. In the overclocking world ALWAYS go for the best board you can afford, cuz every cpu has potential. Email me on my settings.

I've been very pleased with Asus over the years. I've used many different brands, but I always come back to Asus for the stability, while still having good overclock-ability.

I run my computers 24/7 under 100% CPU load. Even if the DFI were to clock the CPU 100MHz higher, that does me no good when I come home from work, and find the computer frozen at the desktop.

Asus up to about 2 years ago
Epox until my mobo died because of faulty capacitors.

ABIT fan now. Have not tried DFI in about 8 years but it was good then.

Back to the ASUS DFI separation. The newest specs on both board models are using better quality capacitors and parts, heatsinks and all. Think of the two this way: DFI as the import tuner and ASUS as the known domestic brand. Both can be great cars and have features that get people from point A to B. In this case both are high quality, just one (import/DFI) has a greater potential for getting out as much horses as possible (overclocking). If you are not a serious overclocker and do not want to take the risk, your best bet is ASUS, handsdown. When it comes to modding, getting insane but stable clock speeds, look no further than DFI. That is why I bought the A8N SLI and returned it for the LanParty SLI-DR.

I voted Soltek just because I'm on my 5th and have yet to have a single problem with any of them. I really like DFI but have only used a few, just based on my experience Soltek pwns.

I've had a lot of problems with newer Asus boards in recent months, so I definitely would not vote for them.
