I'm going to upgrade my wife's computer very soon. I'm going to get her an Intel Pentium 4 CPU(Unsure of what Speed). Don't try to convience me to buy an AMD. I've had two and had too many problems that I care to mess with, and I'm replace the last one I have now. I want to get the best motherboard that's out now that is highly stable. Not looking for the fastest one around, because usually the fastest has a few problems. Since this is my Wife's computer I don't want to have to mess with it after I upgrade it.

I've been looking at the Intel D875PBZ, and the ASUS P4C800 motherboards. Does anyone have any opinions on either of these, or is there a better one?

As far as memory goes I'm looking at DDR ram. Is the Cousair XMS a good type of memory to get, or is there better memory?

for stability go with the intel board, and for the processor get a 2.4C -- 800 FSB + hyperthreading for a reasonable price

corsair is of course pretty good but it sounds like u just need stability not blazing speed so you might wanna look into crucial pc3200 ram

wow asus p4c800 huh?

a little overkill don't you think especially for a wife computer... or is it a "wife" computer but actually yours ;)

i say go with the abit is7 g or non g

both are great boards and you'll be satisfied with it

in terms of processor speed, go with the 2.4C or the 2.6C as i'm sure "she" won't need anything faster

and ram... i think winbond ch-5 should do you just fine from memoryx.net

What's the best memory for the ASUS P4C 800-E Deluxe board w/ 2.8C or 3.0C? I heard Corsair XMS 3700 or 3500, and Kingston Hyper X 3500. I plan to eventually OC, what do you guys think?

If you want stability and dependability go for TYAN . I have put together over 50 of these systems over the years for friends etc. and have not had one problem with the boards. I still have a Pent200mmx that I occasionally use for accounting from the mid 90's and its still perfect. Their main business for years was in server boards for large large companies, so go from there. As an example they haven't even shipped a 875p board yet because they don't want to get it to market as fast as possible and spend forever with fixes like most other manufcturers. If your not an overclocking nut, try them.
