best mother board for i7 860?

hi all

pls help me to decide best mobo for i7 860..

having USB 3.0
HDMI Out
SATA 6GB

Waiting for your valuable suggestions

Socket 1156 boards with HDMI out would be built for the Clarksdale CPUs. Those CPUs have the graphics chip built into them, it's not on the motherboard. The 860 doesn't have on-chip graphics, so you'll need a separate graphics card to use that CPU.

What are you building? HTPC? Gaming machine? Video editor?

As mentioned above, HDMI out only exists on certain socket 1156 motherboards, and only works with CPUs with an integrated GPU. The i7 860 does not have an integrated GPU. You will need a separate video card, such as an Ati 5450, to provide HDMI out. As to your other requirements, the Gigabyte UD3 would be a good choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128412

Pls advice me for a suitable mother board that i can use atleast for next 5 yrs

mostly to be used for internet, music,hd moovies, mid level gaming purpose

Hey Vijay. I've seen some of your other threads, but I did not respond because I wasn't sure whether or not you were trolling (no offense). It seems that you came to these forums for some help with getting a new computer with these requirements:

My purpose is Internet ,HD Moovies,Music and mid level gaming.
i m not a kind of game freak..but want to paly atleast NFS Shift,GTA 4 ,Far Cry...

It sounded like you were looking at laptops at first, but you got discouraged by the performance you'd probably be able to get from the models you were asking about. While there are some portables that would meet your demands and budget (the G73Jh and maybe a couple others), availability and warranty considerations kind of knock those out unless you can find a good place to get one from a business located domestically.

When you asked about desktops, the enthusiast crowd here immediately tried to talk you into custom building without knowing about your computer knowledge level (apparently not that high (not trying to be offensive at all, again)). I would suggest that you just go with a Dell similar to one you listed in one of the other threads, rather than spending countless hours reading and asking questions in many threads across the various boards. I picked this one off of http://www.dell.co.in/.

Studio XPS 8100
PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ i5-750 Processor (2.66GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 8MB Cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit Edition (English)
SECURITY SOFTWARE McAfee® Security Center 11 (Multi Language) - 30 days
MONITOR Dell(TM) SX2210 21.5 " Full HD Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor With Webcam
MEMORY 6GB (2x2GB/2x1GB) DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz Memory
HARD DRIVE 500GB SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive with Native Command Queuing
OPTICAL DRIVE Single Drive: Blu-ray Disc Combo (DVD+/-RW + BD-ROM)
VIDEOCARD ATI(R) Radeon(TM) HD5770 1GB
SOUND CARD Integrated high definition 7.1 channel audio

~$1,410 or Rs.66,424 before tax and shipping if either of those apply there. Maybe you can get a better deal since you said your cousin works for Dell in another thread.

That system gets you a bit more power than any notebook in that price range (maybe a $3k clevo could catch it). It will definitely meet all your requirements. For those applications, the i5 750 CPU is equally powerful to the i7 860, so don't be concerned about that. You also have the ability to easily upgrade the GPU in a year (has to be about equal power draw, but with better efficiency then, it would still be a good upgrade).

If you have more concerns, or if I have made wrong assumptions and you have other preferences which require revision of my recommendation, please post them here, or in one new thread in general hardware so we can get things sorted out for you once and for all. Good luck with whatever you choose though!

Hi

i've really no words to ay thanks...and can't even imagine that somebody is tracking my threads from the begining.

so one question on your recommended conifg.

future compatibility of CPU,USB 3.0...

I really appreciate your sugggestion....

thanx a million 🙂

Wait until you actually have a USB 3 device to use that will benefit from the higher speed (it could be quite a while), then get a cheap (probably $30 by then) USB 3 expansion card.

A CPU upgrade will never make sense for that system, as none of the current or future 1156 CPUs (only a couple more may be released before 1155 Sandy Bridge) will ever offer good enough price/performance ratio to upgrade. The only exception would be if your computing use changed to include applications which benefit from hyper threading.

I doubt the prices will drop dramatically in the near future, if you want a midrange videocard get a 5750. Shouldn't be too expensive.

This makes less than no sense man, how are you going to use the computer with no GPU?? or do you have a older PCIe card to throw in while you save up? In any event you are going to need a i3 board and CPU to have HDMI out on the mobo.

I already posted this one:

I think it is unlikely that you will benefit much (like saving an hour of time or more) from having USB 3 and a USB 3 device which requires that much bandwidth in the next 2 years anyways. Anyways, that is my final bit of advice.
