Best, most versitile DVD+/-RW? RAM?

Hello... I'm currently looking to purchase a new IDE burner. I'm wondering about how many bases i can get covered. I definately want to be able to burn both CD-R/RW as well as DVDs. Is there any drive that both burns -R and +R? RAM and any of the above? Can you play +R in a DVD player? How about in a Playstation 2? Any advice would be appreciated.

Check the HotDeals forum for the Sony drive on sale at Dell (I just ordered one of these with my new system). Does CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW (no DVD-RAM, but I doubt you really need that unless you already have media in that format to read)
