Best monitoring software for AIM

Well my oldest daughter has finally asked me to set her up an AIM account so she can chat with her friends. She has resisted because she would much rather just talk on the phone but some of her friends don't have phone privileges, etc, etc. I am cool with that but due to the world we live in she has been told and is in agreement with the fact that her AIM account will be restricted to just her friends IRL and that I will be occasionally logging in to her account to make sure the security settings are all set up properly, perform upgrades, etc.

With all that said I have seen a handful of monitoring programs that can log activity which would make it much easier for me to occasionally review her account. Any suggestions from other parents or maybe program administrators on which is the best program to use or perhaps another method? Do any of the third party programs (Pidgin, Meebo, ?) have this capability built in?

Any and all input is appreciated 🙂

IIRC, Pidgin has a logging plug-in. I'm using Adium since I'm at work, but I can double-check when I get home. Most of them also have a security level for "only allow my contacts to talk to me", too.

Now, there's probably nothing you can do to stop her from circumventing this stuff, but it sounds like you guys trust each other, so it should turn out OK.
