well i was going to get the 2407 from dell, but then i realized i couldnt play bf2142 on it...

wats the best monitor that can actually play bf2142?

if i dont get the 24" i would perferably go for something a lot cheaper then..

Why can't you play BF2142 on the Dell 2407?

NEC 20WMGX2 (20.1") is by far the best under $700 for gaming (except for sheer size/resolution).

no. they hacked widescreen support onto games. on some games it can stretch the UI, like health bars and crap, but on newer games it usually works fine.

those all have native WS support except BF2 and BF2142. Using the command line both BF games will look fine. The game looks great but the hud which IMO still looks fine is a tad bit stretched. I play BF2 all the time with my Dell 2405 and it looks supurb.

The BenQ FP241W is better than the Dell 2407 but for <$700 you've got no choice. Personally I would have gone with a smaller high-quality screen like the NEC 20WMGX2. You could always try the Sony SDM-P234@$750...at least you get an S-IPS panel. And no banding/oversaturation issues like the Dell. The Dell just has too many problems. I thought they had eliminated banding but I was apparently wrong...many people posted A02 rev photos of gradlin and diagonal grayscales in Desktop mode and the banding was just atrocious. The Dell also input lags a lot, and I can't see the Sony or BenQ being worse than it. The 2007WFP seems to be completely immune to banding though.

i've wanted to get a bigger monitor for a while now. i have a 17in Dell 1702 which is fine but i'm going move my computer to another room without a possible connection to the tv. I use TV-out a lot but now that i wont be able to I want a bigger monitor to play Wii games, various pc games as well as watch tv/movies.

I third that. I LOVE my 2407. I don't know how someone can recommend a smaller screen. The quality on my Dell is amazing.
