My wife has been using a trusty Dell 24" 19x12 for a while now, but it is showing some stuck/dead pixels (not everyone treats her tools well).

Is there a consensus on a current model for photographers? Is there a 4K option I should consider? Or just stick to standard 19x12 or even 1080 to make sure the accuracy is solid?

I believe she's got a Spyder to calibrate, but that's only half the battle.

Really depends on what she wants. 4k can either be great or annoying depending on eye sight, monitor size, etc. It gives you a ton of space and makes pictures look great, but if icons and such are too small it can be annoying to use. I'd say go to a local place and see if 4k is good or not as its very personal opinion.

But lots of monitors use IPS now and the pricing has dropped a lot from the massive premium it used to have. So look for a good deal on an IPS and either 1440 or 4k depending on how she likes the 4k. Costco, Bestbuy, Walmart and other stores should have them on display.

Fair. I was hoping there was an easy go-to model/brand these days that offered good accuracy.

I assume Dell is solld, but Eizo and NEC are probably better/best. Just not something I've had to shop around for in a long while.

Thanks.

Well if you have a spyder to calibrate they should all be good. Most panels come from LG (or all for IPS?) or Samsung. So you are paying for support, warranty and other things depending on which brand you buy. The Dell Ultrasharps are great, but so are many of the others for far cheaper. TFTCentral has great reviews and will show good out of the box and calibrated info but since you can calibrate yourself, most of them should work perfect :). I'd recommend figuring out which resolution she likes the best in store first and then shop around online for the best one. 4k has become much cheaper than it was a year+ ago.

I like my Dell U2515H, i use it mainly for photo editing. I love the colors and high PPI it looks very sharp. You cant go wrong with any of the more expensive dells either if you really want premiere color. The factory calibration on my U2515H was within 3% of perfect according to my spyder so great out of the box.
