Best Modular Power Supply?

I'm looking for a new power supply and would prefer a modular one. I'm looking for recommendations as to which model is the best. Thanks, Rob

i have an ultra x-connect. but most people ive talked to on here are against ultra, so my vote goes to OCZ modstream. expensive, but hey, its worth the price IMO.

and how much are you willing to spend on it? pc specs might help too...

My computer will be an opteron 165 processor, 2 harddrives, an asus a8r-mvp motherboard, a dvd burner, 3 case fans, a 7800gt, and a floppy drive. I also plan to overclock the system.

My setup is very similar.

Opteron 165 (currently @ 2.53 ghz, going for 2.7)
DFI Lanparty Ultra-D
eVGA 7800gt (470/1100)
Hitachi T7k250 250GB SATA II
BenQ 1640 burner
NEC 3540a burner
Audigy 2 ZS
2x Yate Loon 120mm
1x Panaflo M1A 120mm
Antec P180 case.

All this is being power by my Antec Smart Power 500 watt which is a modular PSU. All the cables are sleeved and the psu is dead silent. It uses 2x80mm fans which turned me off at first but both fans are thermally controlled and so far is has never used more than one and it is not audbile. Plus this push/pull design works perfect for the Antec P180 lower PSU section.

I picked up this PSU from fry's for $50 AR and it works like a charm. My volts where at 12.36 (3% over, within 5% spec) but after upping the cpu voltage and overclocking my cpu to 2.53 my voltage now rests at 12.22 even when running stress tests. This build has been up and running now for a few weeks so it is still too new to tell anything but at this point the psu has been rock solid and good to work with.

Enermax liberty 620 is the best at the moment. I just installed one into my youngest sons machine and it's rock solid and quiet.

As I have stated my 500 watt antec SP powers my system just fine. I believe the 500watt is only a max number and the actual wattage is closer to 430-470. Any decent psu of 400 or more will do it unless you are planning to go SLI, then you need much beefier.

Thanks I actually have a 430 NeoHE that I am waiting to receive an updated version from rma. But honestly I am not expecting much since people seem to have continuous problems with them. I'm gonna give it a shot when it arrives to see if i got one that actually works, but if not I want to be prepared to order something else quickly. -Rob

SilverStone Strider 600W (ST60F) looks like a great modular PSU. Quiet thanks to a 120 mm fan, very stable and solid in terms of power delivered, plus official SLI certificate. Very good reviews, too.
