I've read that lite-on was a good brand for this duty, but also read that some older samsungs and asus drives were better than lite-on's offering during the same time period.

Can anyone recommend a reader to me that will do a fantabulous job at reading scratched discs?

Thanks,
Bill

If you have tried more then 1 DVD player and it can't read the disk then chances are not many otehr will be any better. SOunds like they are pretty scratched up.

There are options availble for resurfacing teh disk so that players can read them again. Something like this is all you need.
http://www.tape.com/cd-dvd-scratch-remover.html

It removes a very fine layer of the DVD surface to remove the scratches. There are also fillers availible that will file in the scratches and then you buff it out to make the disk ussable again.
