my friend told me you an mod the xbox w/o a chip and just software and a new HD. Is he right or wrong?

i'm new to the xbox thing, but is that referring to the TSOP flash thing?

Yes, that refers to the TSOP. I'll need a chip once halo2 comes out so I can play on XBL, but for now the TSOP works fine for snes Emulation :)

how do you play snes on xbox? do you have a link?

Have to download a SNES emulator from the usual places. If you go to xbox-scene.com and look at their tutorials, you will find all the information you need.

you can grab an snes emulator from the IRC place listed on
xbox scene. You have to have your dashboard setup and all first
and then run the emulator as an app and load snes games.

btw i got an Xecutor 2.2pro, what changes do the new gen
of mods offer. The only new stuff i saw in the Xecutor 2.3 gen
stuff was that it was usb powered and compatible with Xbox ver 1.5.
I've heard that Xenium is writing a new OS to go with their chips
but that's all software related. I've yet to see a modchip enable any
new hardware tweaks. Some of the stuff i glanced at mentioned UDMA
enabling but that's about it. I still assume most of the stuff is software
based and pretty much any modchip will do, so long as its compatible
with your xbox version.

Executor 2 works fine for me. They all seem to do just about the same thing. More flash memory on more expensive ones. I am never going to need a new BIOS so the cheapest ones work fine.

yeah, i think you are right. all of them do the same basic thing, but some do more than others in terms of features
