Just as the title says...getting a T-Bird from compuwiz1, so I know it's OK to OC (thanks Steve for your patience )... going to a computer show Saturday, 1-20-01, and they usually have good deals...what do you guys (and gals) think about it...cost is not an issue , and I want a GOOD overclocking board with a SoftMenu type set-up.

I've had good luck with Abit, and I hear MSI makes a good board for this chip.

Also, what is the BEST fan/hs for this chip...cost no issue.

Any links for the MOBO or HS/Fan would be great!!!

Thanks!

I would recommand a MSI k7T Pro2-A and a Globalwin FOP38 if noise isn't a concern. Use the FOP32-1 and lose a degree celsius if noise is a concern. The Edgehog cools well but is very heavy and might damage your cpu if you move your case. The Alpha PAL 6035 cools no better and is also rather heavy. Get some Arctic Silver paste if you see it, small contact area preferably.

OrangeDelta 2cooltek

In case this info is useful to you, Compuwiz1 uses a K7T Pro with a FOP32 and Radio-Shack thermal grease to test his cpus. The Radio-Shack grease is adequate but will dry up faster and does not cool as well as the Arctic Silver.

I just got a 1GHz Tbird from Steve and I will get a K7T Pro Turbo-R, FOP32-1 and Arctic Silver combo to push this puppy. :)

Thanks dennilfloss...I'm leaning that way...maybe I can tap your brain for setup issues, etc if I go with the MSI.

I'm sure that 800 T-Bird will OC as Steve say's...he seems to have an outstanding reputation here, and has been MORE than helpful (and patient) with me.
