I'm putting together a computer for my friend. Looking to spend around $1500 for everything. So far I've figured the Intel core 2 quad 2.4 GHz and ATI Radeon HD 4850 seem to be pretty good bang for the buck at about $200 each. What's a good motherboard for this processor? It's been a while since I built a computer...is it a waste if you don't match up the FSB on the processor and mobo?

I'm starting to wonder if the quad 2.5 GHz with 1333 MHz FSB (as opposed to 1066) is worth the extra $60....

Thanks for the help!

I was faced with the same dilemma. I went for Q6600 due to its 8MB L2 cache and its multiplier. In the short you can easily overclock it to perform in par
with Q9300. I got the ASUS P5Q Pro + ASUS Radeon HD 4850 for 319$ (30$ discount from Newegg for the combo deal). I missed out on the 30$ rebate on the card :(.
Q6600's default bus speed is 1066 but can be cranked up to 1600 it looks like so any board that can do upto 1600 should be good enough. Ofcourse if you do not like to
overclock Q9300 will give u a 1333Mhz FSB so any board that support this FSB speed should work. does this help?
