Im making a gaming rig for a good friend of mine. I was thinking Duron 850/EPoX 8KTA3/Super Orb/256MB PC133. What do you think? I need to know if the super orb is going to fit..if not what about the GlobalWin FOP38 or FOP32? TIA

I'd say get a lower speed duron 700Mhz and then overclock that - otherwise the 850Mhz is nearly in the Thunderbird price range.

If you get a KT133A board you will more than likely get a 700 to 933 with 7 x 133FSB - maybe even higher.

I've been reading about a lot (well a few) of problems with the Epox board and the 133FSB fyi....

I was thinking about the Epox too, but having read on some of the difficulties I'm not too convinced now.

Also the Epox boards are more expensive than the Abit KT7A-Raid here in Hong Kong.. :(

I currently have FOP38...the thing rocks (39-42c while running RC5)...but the noise kills me, I'm probably going to go hedgehog or 6035 soon...

The fop32 works well also, and is quieter than the fop38. Not sure if any of you read the AT site, Linky, but they did a review recently of the kt133a boards. Quite a nice read. Although my board, the Abit kt7R didn't come out on top for the A's, it's still up there.

<< What's the difference between the MSI K7T Turbo, and the Pro2a? >>

the turbo has the newer kt133a chipset (u already knew that). the kt133a fully supports 133mhz fsb. whereas the pro2a only supports up to around 115 (but you won't get it past 110). the turbo has more features and is probably better for overclocking, and it also supports the newer line of tbirds -- which is better if u wanna upgrade in the future.
