best mobo for overclocking 1.8 Northwood?

What's the best motherboard to get for overclocking an Intel 1.8 Northwood? The one caveat is that I need it to be a mobo that supports DDR ram, cause that's what I currently have and I'm not upgrading any time soon. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

not sure if it's "the best" but lots of guys like the Asus p4b533.

The ABIT IT7 MAX or MAX2 are known for their great performance. I have the IT7 MAX. It performs extremely well OC'ed, and is very stable.

If you are not in a hurry, it may be wise to wait on the Granite Bay board reviews. 😉

i was always under the impressoin that they are not really good for ocing, but i guess i just havnt given much attention to them maybe...

also with asus p4s533, there is the magic 4:6 ratio which was undocumented, but pretty well known within the oc community, but again it doesnt have pci/agp bus lock so that would be limiting factor for high cpu fsb, but 4:6 ratio warrants very high ram frequencies

 

Using the P4S533-E works for me. It might not be the most ideal board for OC'ing, due to the lack of PCI-AGP lock, but I managed to get my 1.8A Northwood to 2.7 ghz (150 mhz fsb) easily. I'm currently running 2.61 ghz (145 mhz fsb) @ 1.575 vcore. Very stable.

Note: At 160 mhz fsb, the computer refused to boot, but that might be because of my ram (PC2100 isn't too fond of speeds above 300 mhz). I haven't modded the board, so the memory frequency just follows the cpu fsb. At my current cpu speed, the ram is runing at 290 mhz.
Again, the lack of PCI-AGP lock might have had something to do with it as well.

I'm pretty satisfied with it. 🙂

Actually this board owns. You can lock the pci/agp speed and set different cpu/ram ratios. As posted elsewhere, I got my 2.53 to 3.1ghz with tons of headroom (bet it will be stable at 3.3ghz) on this board. *Happiness* 🙂

I can't complain about the ASUS P4PE mobo. Running my memory at 427 and it'll go higher, I'm sure if I get some PC3500. Although, the FSB is maxed I think. Supports new Hyperthreading and a host of other features. PCI/AGP lock, etc, etc. I got it locally for $129.
