Best mobo for o/c'ing 1.6A

<< I'm leaning towards the Abit TH7-II with Rambus >>

if you get the ics chips then yes

another good choice is the asus p4t-e with the new ics chips

most places don't tell you which ones are on the motherboard but you can do "the pin trick"

but ata.com says

<< ASUS P4TE FOR P4 478 PIN CPU W/O AUDIO(W/ ICS CLOCK GENERATOR-NEW REV) RDRAM TURBO MODE AVAILABLE -LIMITED QTY (AVAILABLE) >>

also at atacom well read here here

but you can but these parts cheaper but few places test them or post the results to you so you'd have a good chance overclocking a processor/motherboard/ram combo at least to the specs they tested to

hope this helps

my friend is also interested in overclocking a 1.6A with i850.

I don't know much aobut it, so could you fill me in.

What are the ics chips and what is the "pin trick"?

Are there any other limiting overclocking factors other than CPU with i850+rambus?

ics chips are more able to overclock to 533 mhz (as some abit motherboards as well as others use a diferent chip that struggles to reach 533 mhz)for front side bus overclocking speeds.

the pin trick is a way to push the cpu core voltage up by wrapping the pins that provide voltage together to provide more voltage to stabilize an overclock now there is also a paint method that works too

yes samsung original 16 device rdram 256 modules are supposed to be the best for overclocking the rdram to 1066 speeds vs rdram 800 speeds

it sounds like you are intrested in the p-4 overclocking but are very new to the idea so i would suggest that you read a few links
here overclocking p4 search

here wire trick search

here ics chips search

these give more detail and info than i can relate also they give more accurate info than i can give as my info was learned here at these threads

hope this is useful and i subscribe so the links may not work for you so i typed in what i searched for but they may be in the wrong order as it was an after thought
