OK I am planning on building this comp
My Computer
90nm 3000+ 939
Leadtek 6600gt PCI-E
Seagate 120gb Sata II
2x512mb Patriot Ram

I was looking for advice in general on this setup as well as specific advice on what motherboard to get. I plan on waiting for more options to emerge in terms of AMD PCI-E motherboards, but I want to know what I should be waiting for. This will be my first computer build, however, I do plan on overclocking when I becom more knowledgeable.

I'd look at a different PSU, I wouldn't trust something they don't even show you a close-up picture of. Other than that, the Chaintech looks to be the most reasonable Athlon 64 PCIe board Newegg has. If you don't plan on upgrading the system very far after a while you could look at an AGP based system. PCIe doesn't really offer any performance benefits over AGP and is commanding a slight price premium.

I just bought an Epox nForce3 Ultra board because I have an AGP based 6800GT, but I have a feeling I'd have gone that path even if I didn't have the 6800GT.

with the money he saved on the PCI-E version of the 6600GT he would break about even on going with a NF4. I am going 6600GT and a NF4 by the end of the month(if I can find one in stock). If the board is real buggy I will try and hold out with it and buy another when NF4 matures.

You don't have much choice at the moment if you don't want sli. Its either the Chaintech or Gigabyte. I am hoping more will be released by the time I upgrade as I would rather have a Abit(if they are releasing one),Asus,Epox,DFI,ect
