If you want official SLI support & decent overclocking then you'll have to wait for the soon to be launched revised nVidia chipset.
You can do SLI on a 975 board (P5 WH, AW9D etc.) with hacked drivers though.

I have been using P5N32 SLI SE Deluxe for a few weeks now without issue. With unlocked multiplier I have reached 3.6 on 6800. I just ordered the Extreme P5N32 NForce 590 from xpcgear and it will arrive on Monday. Still suppose to have C19 chipset which doesn't overclock well but with the 6800 this isn't as important because multiplier is unlocked. I'll let you know how I like this 590 board.

X6900 isn't coming.Intel will be sending out the QX6700 Quad Core Extreme Edition processor instead. And besides the supposed X6900 is just 1 multiplier above the X6800.
As for the mobo,u should get the ASUS P5N32 SLI PREMIUM(nforce 590 based) when it comes out.

Quite a few 965 & 570 mobos will support Quad Core with a BIOS update. As far as the new 590 mobos with C55 chipsets and the new RD600 mobo...gotta wait till end of November according to latest rumors.
