Here is my current setup, see what you guys can recommend for a mobo and maybe give me some more help
AMD Athlon 1.44 (my goal is to outperform the 2.0 p4)
ABIT or EPOX are my 2 primary choices
512 DDR Ram
GEForce3 (haven't decided on a maker yet)
Hercules Game Theater XP
Hard Drive
Plextor 12x Burner / Possibly a DVD-ROM later on
19" Flatscreen monitor
NIC
As I already said, I want to be fastest on the market right now, and I want to beat a p4. As for burner, is plextor "too good"?
And as for ABIT and EPOX, I want to be able to upgrade the processor to say a 1.8 (in a couple of months or whatever), then be able to just swap a motherboard later on. I want to be able to O/C to around 1.5-1.6.
Would it be worth it to use a SCSI Hard Drive? If not a SCSI, then what is the current highest technology on the market besides SCSI?
BTW, I plan on dual-booting Windows XP and Linux. Primary role of the computer is a gaming computer, with computer programming being done on it also.
