Hello people, I'm new...yeah..

I've never built a PC before (so I guess I'm a newbie) but I'm intrested in getting a

"Intel Pentium 4 / 3.0CGHz 512k socket 478 Hyper Threading Technology 800 MHz FSB - RETAIL ding a 3.0 GHZ P4 with 800fsb" (from newegg.com)

Any recamendations on which is the best mother board for it?

I'll decide on the Ram/HD/Video card later.

Thanks

Welcome!

Step 1 - click the big Anandtech logo at the top of this page and read the 865/875 motherboard roundup near the top of the main page.

"Best" depends on what you want to do, and this article will explain the differences and tradeoffs.

I agree with David Simmons.

I suggest you not to focus on the price, but on the features that suit your needs.

I am considering AOpen AX4C Max, but I am a bit concerned with its overheating problem.

well, you can't really go wrong with the Abit IS7 for just over $99.99 at some retailers! Firewire, gigabit LAN, pretty good audio and one of the fastest boards around.

Asus P4P800 is a good value too
