This is the motherboard i have right now:

Biostar MK7VB
Fits SDRAM (which i have right now)
Athlon 800mhz
No RAID HD

I was told that my mobo or ram is either screwed up. However, my RAM is brand new so i am suspecting my mobo.

Is their anyway i can replace my mobo for another one that comes with an Athlon XP 1500+ ? Or can i only get mobos that will be compatible with my HD and current RAM?
If i can, what is a decent mobo for an Athlon XP 1500+ (i am looking for a combo) that is around 200 (preferibly lower).

THANKS

IMO I would dump the mobo and memory and get a Shuttle AK31 (around 80 bucks last I checked) You'll have to get PC2100 memory for that board. Last time I looked it cost around 38 bucks for a 256mb stick of Crucial PC2100 memory. The XP1500 was pretty cheap last I checked also. I think you can get both the mobo and processor for 200 bucks. The mobo is most likely compatible with your HD. It has variable ATA settings in the BIOS. The shuttle board, XP1500 and pc2100 memory is a very nice system if budget is a concern.

Those were the days. I just 2 days ago bought a 256MB stick of Crucial PC2100 DDR, and it was $72. I'd go pick up an ECS K7S5A. It has SDR and DDR slots for future upgrading and supports XP's.

Yup, the price of DDR tripled a few days before x-mas and has yet to come down. :(

I'd also would encourage you to buy the ECS K7T5A, it has 2 DDR Slots & 2 SDRam Slots, so you can upgrade to PC2100 DDR when prices dropo again to a normal/affordable level. With the new BIOS revision it does support all new processors & is also even more stable .
