Hi Guy's I'm planing to buy a new printer that I will print some pictures with, but mostly Labels for my CD's. So which Printer is the best Midrange under $200, Epson 820, 785, Lexmark 65, or some of the Canon. And can they all use cheaper ink and which one will be cheaper to use.

Thanks Micael

I picked up the cheaper of the new HPs, the 5500, and It rocks in photo quality! The next model, the 7150 has the 4x6 tray and an auto sensor, whih is nice when printing photographs/

you could maybe spend a little more and get the Canon S900. It is BLAZING fast (a 4x6 borderless in ~40 seconds) and the output looks great, albeit this is my first Photo Printer. I got mine from Dell, just wait for one of their 15% off software and peripherals with free shipping and your set. Trust me, you'll love it!

I Still think the Epson 785EPX has the best output quality when printing photos on their borderless glossy paper.

Only drawbacks are that it's noisy, clunky, slow, the printheads clog if you print too infrequently, and it goes through ink like water. Nevertheless, the prints are truly stunning.

For general printing, my H/P is quiet, smooth, very fast, and is unbelievably stingy on ink. I use it for 99% of my printing.

You can get the 785EPX for around $150.

After two Epson photo printers I finally got a hp 7150.
I'll never buy another Epson again. Although it had good prints when they were new, it didn't take long for them to have problems.
Plus there is still a problem with photos fading even after all of their fixes. There's a class action suit against them about this. Also problems with little dimples showing up where the paper feed would grab. When I called for service they wanted ME to fix it. By opening it up and filing down the paper feed wheels so they didn't protrude as much. Yeah right.

HP has proven that their photos will hold for 65years. I've had Epson prints start changing colors in a matter of months.

The HP is so much easier to set up and print. Everything is automic. Select paper size and print. Colors are so much better and more realistic than the Epsons.
I like having the 4x6 tray built into it too. Makes borderless prints a snap. They make probably the best matte photo paper out there too. Not that generic matte stuff that feels like cardboard, but paper that looks and feels just like the matte from the photoshop.

BTW the 7150 is only $165 at Fry's right now. Comes with the photo ink too.

Here's a page with the problems about Epson Epson inks
