Well recording is a very interesting art.

I would say that buying the most expensive microphone from any company would not get you the best result.

I think your best bet is to investigate where the piano's sound is the richest, what range in khz can a piano produce, and find a quality microphone that covers those ranges. the next thing you have to worry about is the room where the piano is, typically for recording you want a padded room whose walls absorb sound. Your research for a microphone to record high quality grand piano music parallels with many's search for the highest quality in audio.

Basically you want to expose the microphone to the richest sound coming from the piano while working to diminish reverberation and echo's from the room.

One experiance I had when my brother and some friends were recording classical violin music for a cd was that they surrounded the room with sound absorbtion drapes. These can be found pretty cheap, around a grand should get you enough to cover a 10x15 room.
